These programs were written over the course of a few years, with versions of Think C ranging from 4 to 7. Some of the really old ones were written in TrueBASIC. They represent an evolution in terms of my understanding of Mac and C programming. If you really want the source code, you'll see this :)
The programs were designed to work on Mac Pluses, and as such they assume a 512x342 screen. Most of them will work fine on faster machines with bigger screens, though. My development machine was an SE/30 throughout most of the work, except halfway through summer '94, when I switched over to an LCIII. Obviously, the programs have been tested on these machines..
Programs which use sound (Beats, Fourier) will *NOT* work on AV Macs or Power Macs because I used the old Sound Driver routines. I'm going to get round to moving this over to the Sound Manager as soon as I get some documentation.
Probably the biggest obstacle to the use of these programs in an academic setting is the fact that they all currently require 8-number student IDs. This is one reason why we are making the source code available. Most of the programs use a routine in jglib; this is where you should look to change this. If there's a lot of demand, I'll go and change this myself to be more flexible.
These programs (including the source code) are being made available completely free of charge. You may do what you like with them, *except* sell them. If you make changes, I'd appreciate it if you'd send us a copy so we can keep track of it. Also, if you distribute changed versions, please indicate somewhere that this is not the original.
Neither the programmers nor Dalhousie University will accept responsibility for anything which happens to you during the use of these programs. They were developed around the network of machines here, and we can't guarantee anything about their reliability or performance. This is one of the reasons we're distributing them for nothing and providing source code. I don't want to spend the rest of my life supporting and maintaining them.
You'll probably want a Word 5 or later to read and print the instructions.
